Tweens & Teens

Share your hopes and concerns for the Earth. Talk to them about conservation. Explain to them how they can help. Encourage them to sign petitions and write letters to elected officials. Let them know that their actions can make a difference.

Using a trail map at a local park or preserve, allow your child to choose a trail to hike, alone or with a friend. Make sure it is a simple loop so that there is no chance of your child getting lost.

Create opportunities for them to make and use maps.

Encourage them to form a team with friends and choose a project to help the environment in their local community.

Encourage them to join a club or organization so that they can meet other like-minded people who will help foster their love of the outdoors.

Bring them with you as you volunteer for conservation – take them to beach clean ups and invasive species pulls. Tell them that this is our way of giving back to the earth all that she has given to us. Explain that their efforts are important and matter!
